COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLOTH, INTERLINING, COTTON AND SYNTHETIC, OR SYNTHETIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-C-43920.
Abstract. This commercial item description covers cotton and synthetic or synthetic cloth intended for use as interlining material. The type I cloth is intended for use as waistband interlining for men’s trousers. The type II cloth is intended for use as a unidirectional stiffener in garrison and service cap.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. The cloth shall be of the following types and classes as specified (see 5.1).
Type I – 5.8 oz. per sq. yd.
Type II – 4.5 oz. per sq. yd.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1. General description. The warp yarns shall be either 100 percent carded or combed single ply cotton, 100 percent polyester, any combination of polyester and cotton, or from 45 to 100 percent polyester with the remaining percentage rayon. The filling yarns shall be 100 percent nylon or co-polyester monofilament. The cloth shall be plain weave. The width shall be as specified. (see 5.1) and shall be the minimum acceptable width inclusive of the selvage when fly-shuttle looms or shuttleless looms with tuck-in selvages are used. For all other shuttleless looms the width measurement shall be made between the last warp yarn on each side excluding the protruding fringe(s0. The color of the cloth shall be natural unless otherwise specified (see 5.1).
