COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLOTH, BURLAP, JUTE (OR KENAF)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification CCC-C-467.
Abstract. This commercial item description covers burlap and jute (or kenaf) cloth intended for use in equipage, covering of baled material, camouflage materials, sand bags, and overwrapping of textile products when packed for delivery.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. The cloth shall be of the following classes as specified (see 5.1).
Class 1 – 6.7 oz./sq. yd.
Class 2 – 7.2 oz./sq. yd.
Class 3 – 9.0 oz./sq. yd.
Class 4 – 10.8 oz./sq. yd.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 General description. The cloth shall be made of natural color jute or kenaf. The weave shall be plain, modified, or a three-leaf twill. The width of the cloth, inclusive of selvages, shall be specified (see 5.1).
2.2 Physical requirements. The finished cloth shall conform to the requirements listed in table I.
