The minimum width shall include selvages when fly shuttle looms are used and exclude selvages and fringe when shuttleness looms are used. Item 1 cheesecloth shall be a minimum of 90 cm wide. Item 2 cheesecloth shall be a minimum of 50 cm and a maximum of 130 centimeters wide.
The length of Item 1 cheesecloth shall be as specified by the procuring activity (see 7.3). When the length specified is greater than 40 meters, the bolt shall contain a maximum of two pieces. The minimum length of any one piece shall be 10 meters.
Unless otherwise specified, each piece of item 2 cheesecloth shall have a minimum length of 1 meter and a maximum length of 10 meters.
3.2 Fiber identification. Each piece of cloth shall be labeled, ticketed, or invoices for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act.
3.3 Workmanship. The cheesecloth cloth shall conform to the quality of product established by this commercial item description and shall have no defects that affect function, appearance, or serviceability. The cloth shall be correct in all dimensions and shall be free from holes, cuts, tears, and grease or oil stains.
3.4 Standard commercial product. The cheesecloth shall, as a minimum, be in accordance with the requirements of this commercial item description and shall be the manufacturer’s standard commercial product. A standard commercial product is a product which has been sold or is currently offered for sale in the commercial market through advertisements, manufacturer’s catalogs, or brochures, and represents the latest production model.
3.5 Commercial item. The use of the term “commercial item” in this document does not imply that any item or items offered are not required to conform with all requirements specified herein.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.
4.1 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
5.1 General quality statement. The products provided shall conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
