ounces per square yard when tested according to ASTM D3776-85 option C. The cloth shall have a minimum of 26 ends and 23 picks per inch when tested according to ASTM D-3775-85. The samples for test ASTM D-3775-85 shall be conditioned as directed in “ASTM D1776 Practice for Conditioning Textiles for Testing” prior to testing. The cloth shall have a minimum breaking strength of 24 pounds in the warp direction and 19 pounds in the filling direction when tested according to ASTM D1682-64 Section 16.
Length and put-up. The cloth shall be furnished in rolls of continuous length and each length shall be not less than 40 yards. Each roll shall weigh not more than 250 pounds.
Label/tag. Each roll shall be individually bar-coded with the type VII or VIII, class 17 label/tag of DDD-L-20 –Label: For Clothing, Equipage, And Tentage (General Use). This lable/tag shall be located so that it is completely visible on each roll and causes no damage to the roll.
Workmanship. The finished cloth shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the contractor’s own quality assurance standards and the quality assurance standards defined by the technical data in the bid package.
Quality assurance.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own specifications, standards, quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Visual examination. Each roll shall be examined for the defects listed below.
Defects. Any hole, cut or tear; color not as specified; any part shaded; any spot or stain; raw edges; any material defects, or poor workmanship; width of cloth not as specified; label missing; incorrect, or illegible; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code cause damage to the roll; any items not packaged in accordance with contract or purchase order.
Preservation, packing, and marking. The preservation, packing and marking shall be as specified in thew contract or order.
