COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLOTH, MUSLIN, COTTON
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to CCC-C-446.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. The muslin cloth shall be of the following types:
Type I – Natural
Type II – Bleached white or dyed
Type III – Bleached white or dyed; preshrunk
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design and material. The cloth shall be single ply, plain weave, and 100 percent cotton. The face side of the cloth shall be identified by stamping the word “FACE” at the end of the piece. The use of dyes and compounds containing elementary sulfur, capable of oxidation to sulfuric acid on types II and III cloth, are prohibited. The width and color of the cloth shall be specified in the contract or purchase order. The cloth shall conform to the physical property requirements of table I when tested in accordance wuth the cited testing methods.
