COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLOTH, COATED (WINDOW SHADE)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification CCC-C-521.
Salient characteristics:
The shade cloth shall be made of cotton, cotton and synthetic, or glass fiber. The coating compound and process used shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice. The coated shall be available in following types:
Type I – translucent Type II – room darkening

The coated shall have a minimum width of 36 inches and put up in rolls containing not less than a 40 yard cut. On widths greater than 36 inches, a roll will not contain less than a 30 yard cut.
The issue of Federal Test Method Std. in effect on the date of solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with the above requirements.
Workmanship. The coated cloth shall be free from holes, tears, streaks, blisters, any separation of coating from base cloth, uncoated areas, rolled edges, or foreign matter that would seriously affect the serviceability and appearance of the end product.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging, packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
